Back to the Future

Looking for fresh inspiration for your bathroom? The latest trends blend new and old for a look that's all style.

1. With so many touchless technologies now available for the home, it makes sense for the bathroom to be the next place to experience this revolution and Swiss brand Geberit has responded by creating a new touchless flush plate. Designed by celebrated Swiss designer Daniel Irányi, the innovative Geberit Sigma80 is a touch-free, glass electronic plate that operates with the wave of your hand. Featuring sensors, different colour settings for personalisation and even an automatic standby mode, it’s the ultimate in seamless bathroom style and is available through Reece.

2. There is nothing as luxurious as a classic freestanding bath and Victoria + Albert have introduced their opulent new Radford collection, which takes its cue from more traditional designs of the Victorian era. The beautiful roll-top double-ended bath measures a generous 1900mm, making it large enough for two, while the complementary basin brings a touch of modern-day refinement to a vanity or countertop. Made from QUARRYCAST®, the bath retails for $4575 and the basin $730 through Plumbing Concepts and Designs and GRO Agencies.

3. Short on space? The Como bath from Victoria + Albert is the perfect space-saving solution. Beautifully crafted, but just 1670mm long, its innovative double-ended design features a neat cutaway to expose the floor beneath the
bath. Made from 100 per cent QUARRYCAST®, it’s available through Plumbing Concepts and Designs and GRO Agencies and retails for $3290.

4. For a contemporary twist on the original bathtub, try the luxurious Falper Scoop freestanding bath. Designed by Michael Schmidt for Falper and manufactured in Cristalplant, it creates the appearance of rising from the wall to blend effortlessly into any modern bathroom. Available in a variety of taphole options, it retails for $9995 at Rogerseller.

5. Fakro has launched a range of self-cleaning skylights and roof windows that make a smart addition to any bathroom space. A specially formulated coating on the glass reacts to ultraviolet exposure and biodegrades leaf litter that comes into contact with the surface, ensuring it can be quickly washed away for a clean, streak-free finish and a clear sky view. The range is distributed by Attic Group.

6. Turn your bathroom into a traditional Turkish bath with the Hammam Touch & Steam by Rogerseller. Offering a therapeutic treatment for your whole body, the Touch & Steam panel has a touch-screen control that activates the steam, with its flow illuminated by LEDs at the bottom of the panel. Designed to be incorporated into your shower enclosure without the need for a separate room, it retails for $9995.
